A friend of mine loves Microsoft Flight Simulator however his graphic card isn't very good.

He has a Dell Dimension 4700 Desktop with 2.8 Ghz and 256 MB Ram. He wants to buy a new graphics card however I am not very educated on them, since I am not a gamer. He wouldn't give a price range, however he doesn't want to spend much.

I knew you guys could help!

I'm gonna recommend getting more RAM at the same time. 256MB is much too low to run that game successfully well.

I did tell him that. I wouldn't want to run XP on 256 much less that game. Thanks!

Maybe he can find a used X1900 variant. That will probably be good for that game unless it's Flight Simulator X which is horrid on every available card at this time.

Flight Simulator is far more dependent on your CPU & RAM than on the graphics card. Put 2GB of RAM in that machine for $60 and FS2004 will be much faster.

I read that Flight Sim X is a lot more intensive. More ram, and might as well upgrade the video card if he has money leftover, at minimum, maybe a 8600GTS.

If hes is playing flight sim X , it has DX10 support.
Might want to consider a dx10 card.
