My friend has finally been convinced to upgrade to an Nforce 2 from his KT400. (Thanks to all the replies in the Soundstorm thread). He is not sure what board to get.

He is looking at these three:

NF7-S
DFI Lanparty NFII (A)
DFI Lanparty NFII (B)
Gigabyte GA7NNXP
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe

Ok yeah first he has one criterion. Well request is that it have IDE RAID. SO that is why he is taking a good hard look at the Lanparty A and 7NNXP. He is leaning towards the Gigabyte however the DFI board IMO is a better board. As it beats the 7NNXP in allmost al spped test, hell it beats all sckt A boards in most speed test by like 50FPS. According to some benches.

Anyone have any recommendations. He is using IDE RAID and would very much like to have it. (He has no SATA drives)

But he wants IDE RAID. Would really like it as he has 3 40gb hDD in a RAID 0 array right now. I think he should just use the windows raid (make the hDD dynamic and then just combine them all if he really wants to). But how are the LanParty and the Gigabyte. I know the LAN party is faster bu he would look at the A revision as it still has IDE RAID.

So which board is better with IDE RAID, LANParty A or the Gigabyte?

Which board is better period (I would think the LanPArty Rev B)?

Yeah, the LANParty B is an awesome overclocker, he could just add a pci RAID card for cheap since the board features AGP/pci lock or grab the A for the RAID. I just never hear much good about gigabyte, and one of the members here who's opinion I trust, says he has tried Gigabyte boards several times and afterwards dubbed them gigasuck. I have never used one of their boards so I can't say either way.
