I sent it USPS with insurance. Insurance numbers are trackable arent they? At least internally for USPS... USPS said it had been delivered.

Paypal wouldnt hear any of it... as far as im concerned, they robbed me of $300, and if they come after me for the money, I have enough proof to hold in a court where you are innocent until proven guilty, instead of paypals fscked up world where its the other way around.

Why don't these idiots sell it by mailing them the L/P by ceritified mail or mail with tracking instead of over IM?

Although I understand why you feel it was Paypal which robbed you, in reality your buyer knew that without proof of delivery he could file a claim with Paypal and win, and took advantage of that.

The whole thing is flawed really, since as a buyer you can buy something and get sent an empty box with delivery confirmation/etc. So you didn't get the product but the seller has proof that you got a delivery, just not what you ordered.

And another thing. My friend sent a book through Half.com and the lady she sent it to denied receiving it. So, half.com refunded the buyer's money and my friend got screwed. She has vowed never to use Half.com again.

When she told me about this, I asked her "Did you send the package with some type of tracking information?" She said no. I then immediately said WTF. I told her she should have sent the book with some type of tracking information. And then she says that it wasn't required. Wasn't required? This is the reason WHY you send do it....to NOT get scammed. Then she fired back saying if Half.com required tracking I wouldn't be in this situation. I then told her it was her own fault for not buying tracking info. She still continues to blame Half.com for HER ignorance. Buying tracking gives piece of mind and goes back to my original statement: ALWAYS think ahead on HOW to PREVENT YOURSELF from getting scammed.

In the end, it goes like this:

DON'T BLAME COMPANIES FOR YOUR OWN IGNORANCE. Paypal ALWAYS state to use some type of tracking info to PROTECT YOURSELF. USE IT.....even if it is a Diablo account.

PayPal can still screw you over even if you have proof of delivery. It happened to me. About a year or so ago, I sold my iBook on eBay because I was going to upgrade to a Powerbook. Transaction went as expected, I recieved $500, and shipped it out USPS Priority with delivery confirmation and insurance. Guy gets the notebook and says it's great, and thanks me for a smooth transaction. I left him positive feedback, hoping he would do the same. I come back to my PayPal account and for some reason my account is limited and I'm $500 in the hole. The guy left me negative feedback saying he never recieved the laptop. I begged to differ otherwise, and provided PayPal with a tracking number as per their investigation. The DC number said it had in fact been delivered to the buyer's confirmed address. PayPal said this information wasn't sufficient to prove that I shipped it to him, as DC only shows the town, state, and time the package was delivered. They claimed I was a scammer that most likely sent an empty box to someone in that town.

I had to immediately call my bank and tell them to reject any transactions from PayPal, and leave my account because it was useless with the account limited and me owing $500.

It was a nightmare, to say the least.

You made the mistake of providing positive feedback first. I never do that until the buyer leaves feedback before I do.

Should have used UPS or Fedex for this amount and asked for a required signature. Also, if you were to use USPS, you should have used signature confirmation. You never send a package of high value WITHOUT receiving a signature. I'll admit delivery confirmation should be sufficient, but I don't risk it anymore. Everything I send with high value requires a signature from me.

Do a chargeback. Maybe you should try Google's online payment system soon...lol

Yep, that's the lesson I learned. Good thing I withdrew the $500 into my bank before PayPal got a hold of it. I'm just out a good upstanding PayPal account -- but I'll never forget that lesson. Anything over $100, I ship UPS or FedEx with sig confirmation and the works.

Delivery confirmation can work against you too. Because mail carriers sometimes deliver packages even if that person is not home. Technically, the package IS delivered, but that doesn't mean some stranger can't walk up and straight up steal it. This goes back to my "requiring a signature" argument.

If you guys dont' like Paypal, Cash on delivery is the second best option. The buyer can't get his product without paying and you get your money right then and there.

Credit Card has been my favorite. Don't even bother with Paypal if you don't get your product, go straight to your CC company. Then file a complaint with Paypal and let them handle it to get their money back, since you already got yours.

I sold a few sticks of RAM for around $300, and all was well, positive feedbacks given.

Month or so later paypal claims I never sent the product... I email them links to the auction/feedback & even scan in a shipping receipt.

Paypal denies it and im out $300.

My balance is still at $-300 and I dont plan on paying them. If they wanna take me to court after sending a collection agency after me they are more than welcome.

I will NEVER use paypal again, and I would advise anyone else to do the same.

A shipping receipt is not good enough. You could have mailed it but what if the carrier didn't deliver? Also, a receipt can be created by anyone. Gotta make sure to get a signature.

I never use a bank transfer. I just have it to show I'm verified and to transfer the payments I get to my bank account.

A credit card is better because you are protected (supposedly) by the CC company. So you have Paypal's investigation process as well as the CC's process.

So is the final verdict, if you get signature confirmation, you'll always have proof in case PP asks? Would that signature confirmation be enough to win your case?
