Friend is selling "cheap" FX 57

my friend gets computer discounts. he can sell me a fx57 for $450..should i buy it? right now i have a athlon 64 3200 o/c to 2.6 ghz...the fx57 is 2.8 and has a 1 mb l2. and i could possibly o/c it. another idea i had was to sell it on ebay for 900-1000 and buy a 7800 GTX and maybe a opton or 3700 san deigo.

Athlon 64 3200 "winnie" @ 2.6 ghz
asus a8v deluxe
2 gb ocz performance
6800 GT
74 gb raptor

I'd say your CPU is good enough. If you can for sure resell it for that much more, I'd say do it.

I'm so afraid of dual core problems with gaming, I might just keep it though. Or, sell it and get a single core 3800+ and 2 GB OCZ Platinum RAM. Your 6800 GT is OK until the Geforce 8 come out which will be next summer. Spend the rest at your local stripper joint. ;)

\EDIT: Oops, I noticed you already have OCZ RAM (although it's not the Platinum RAM, may not make enough of a difference to sell it and buy Platinum).

450 is cheap i would buy it and sell it like everyone else says than buy an opteron 170 dual core :) and oc that.

i dfon tthink anyone gets that kind of discount on a fx57 unless it is the 4 finger kind.

Agree, something fishy since AMD wholesale is ~$1000

But I'd buy for $450 ( and ebay it ) if it had DOA guarantee...
