Friend is having problems w/ win2k (diamond stealth III 540E)

My friend installs win2k from scratch...everything works good...UNTIL he installs his video drivers. He has the Diamond Stealth III 540 Extreme. He got the drivers from Diamonds' website (www.diamondmm.com) and they "claim" to be win2k drivers. After he installs the drivers he gets to the win2k splash screen, and then it just stalls there. Anyone else have this kind of problem w/ this vid card? The rest of his system includes:
k6-II400
128mb pc100
36x Creative CDrom
2x8 mitsumi cdr
7.5g diamond maxplus 7200rpm
23g diamond max 5400rpm

I have the same problem ... and the only solution I found is getting older drivers ... can't remember which one though. 🙁

Well how can he even install the older drivers if he can't even get into win2k? Not even safe mode...do you know WHERE he can get the older drivers?

okay so how does he go about installing these other drivers? we can't get him into win2k in the first place to install them..

Boot up into safe-mode or VGA-only mode. Just press the "F8" key after system POST.

set the AGP clock at 2/3 and the AGP transfer mode to normal, if that does not help set the transfer mode to fast
