Friend claims any sleep before midnight is worth "double," true?

A pretty smart friend of mine claims that every hour you sleep before midnight is worth 2 hours of sleep after midnight (within reason I assume. Not sleeping at 8 and waking up at midnight).

ie, if you slept at 10 and woke up at 4, you'd feel like you got 8 hours of sleep, as much as if you slept from 2 to 10.

Is this crazy talk?

I do feel better when I sleep earlier rather than later. With the same amount of sleep.

Same here. I don't know what it is, but I feel much better rested after waking up when I go to sleep earlier.

I'm pretty smart, and I like you, so we can consider each other friends. I claim that for every $100 you send me via paypal you will receive $1,000 in return from an unnamed source and earn karma points toward earning your way into heaven. You may feel free to send money in blocs of more than $100, at your discretion.

...because you were awake for less hours the day before thus needed less rest ?

I'm not talking about the difference between going to sleep early one night, and going to sleep late the next, or vice versa, I'm talking about for weeks at a time when my sleep schedules are constant.

For example: Going to sleep from 12-7 for a week or two versus 3-10 for a week or two.

Your friend is right. All you need to do then is sleep from 8pm to midnight, and you can live off 4 hours of sleep a day.

Yeah, cause we are a lot like gremlins. Be sure not to get us wet either... cept for the women folk, of course. 😉 Then again... this is ATOT so you probably won't have to worry about the latter.
