HELP! I think I zapped a p3/600 with static! I just traded a friend my 550e for a 600 (he needed another 550 for his new dualy). I got home and took off my fleece, which had the 600 in the pocket and the static coming off of me was nuts. I installed the new chip in my trusty Abit BH6 and............ NOTHING. No video, no beeps, no boot. I've tried a bunch of things, too many to mention, but anyone know if there might be something I can try to ressurect this thing? Kinda sucks to lose a chip helping out a friend.

boo,hoo

Sleedo 🙁

I think u may be screwed...(sorry). I'm not sure how you would test a cpu. even with wrong jumper settings, you should at least get initial boot. maybe you can take the cpu back to your friend and test it on his mobo.
good luck

You caried a CPU around without it being in a static proof bag? Your kidding right? Best bet if you did is to punch a hole in it and use it as a keychain cause it's dead.

it was in a bag. 😛

I traced the problem down to a bad scsi card, I suppose it was just an unfortunate coincidence that a card blew up at the same time

Thanks,

Sleedo
