I too was like WTF, they didn't win. I thought every Disney movie was supposed to end like that 🙁 I want a refund.

great movie though... shows the pride and determination of how a team should become and why a team cant rely on only one person to win the season for them

they won the next year because of what they had learned that year... good story to never give up

then they should have showed the next seasons team not these losers. I have no heart.

The other point of the story was that you shouldn't put the hopes and dreams of a community on a high school football team putting the kids under impossible pressure when they should be out having fun.

From that point of view, the loss was fitting.

i had serious issues about the end of this movie. you gotta know when to give a happy ending here and there. let them win for pete's sake.

I wish the movie was more about the kids, they really didn't go into a whole lot of depth about the kids outside of the field, it seemed to really jump to that championship game pretty quickly without knowing how the kids really felt about it all, minus you know like Boobie.

Coming from a football town where we were expected to win a championship every year, I can relate to the story all too well.

The only difference is, we won a championship two years in a row.

I'm sick of high school football movies. I liked Remember the Titans, but after watching about 20 minutes of Radio today it amazes me how they are all essentially the same. Radio really did suck more than these movies should, though.

In actuality, the team didn't even make it to the championship game (only the semi-finals). They do this in the movie for drama. The book gets much deeper into the players lives, the racial tension in the town, and the economic hardships; the football games take a back seat. The author couldn't have possibly known they wouldn't win it all that season (or conversely that they would the next).

Everyone who watches this movie cannot/should not complain about the outcome. It's based on a true story. You can't adapt a new ending (ex: them winning the championship) just because it would make the story better. That would be like the creators of "Hoop Dreams" neglecting the fact that both players don't hit it big and choose to film a fake alternate ending where everything turns up roses.

Thanks you fvcknut, you just spoiled the movie for me and everyone else who hasn't watched it. Thanks for including that spoiler warning.

What's the the coach say...

"Winning and losing are the same thing. It's just how the people around you react to it".

Or something very close to that.

That sums up the movie.
