They are both good, but it depends on what you are using it for as to which is better, check out the configs, and see which is better for you.

argg no option for trubrite screen for the 6000 series. Darn, I misse dthe previous $750 coupon for the 9300 series. Still a good deal if you need a laptop

If you're for something more portable, get the 600, if you're looking for something closer to a desktop replacement, get a 6000. (or a 9300, preferably.) The 6000's are heavier.

There's a 10% off DPA code floating around. Stacked this morning, not sure about Friday's deal, but it won't have expired. Also BigBucks coupons will stack if you have any.

And yes, these deals seem to becoming too prevalent.

That was over quick, for the 6000 anyways.

Grabbed one with the following specs for myself:

Dell i6000
Pentium M 730 1.6GHz (2MB L2, 533FSB)
256MB DDR2 (1DIMM)
40GB HD
15.4" WSXGA UltraSharp LCD
64MB ATI Mobility X300
Intel PRO/Wireless 2915 A/B/G
9-Cell Li-Ion Battery

$721 shipped. My budget limit was a hard $750, and I was pondering whether to stick with the 6-Cell and get the 8X DL DVD+/-RW, or get the 9-Cell and the Combo Drive. Chose the latter because I really don't want a notebook with under 3 hours battery life with watching DVDs or playing games.

Got a 6000 yesterday and got a 600 today. I'm going to let my GF choose what one she wants and send the other one back. I might sell it on ebay if I see some interest.

So this deal is dead?

jpeyton & hellfire88,

Congratulations on upgrading to the SXGA+ display for an additional $125, it's a MUST HAVE UPGRADE!

I ordered mine yesterday and hope it arrives sometime next week.

Thanks RossMAN, I completely agree! I think at one time (maybe they still do), they offered a UXGA (1600x1200 I think) LCD upgrade for the 600m's. IMHO that's just too high of a res for a 14.1" LCD. Anyways, you ordered yesterday? So did you get the $750 off?

Yes I got in on the $750 off but it was yesterdays deal, loaded 6000 for $748 after $30 BigBucks coupon.

You are absolutely correct UXGA resolution on a 14.1" is totally a waste and is not worth it. IMHO the ideal resolution is SXGA+ or WSXGA+, not sure about 17.0" laptop displays though.

my friends 6000 arrived from the deal a few weeks ago... she has the sxga+ display and--boy!!--is it nice!. the laptop seems very big--much larger than its actual dimensions... the "extended" battery showed only 3.5 hr life, though, which is slightly disappointing.

great laptop but i still think the 600m and 700m is the way to go if you want even slight mobility

So the 600m 1.5 sxga+ 256/40 with the dvd burner for $776. Its pretty light, just 5 lbs. What do you guys think? The dvd+-rw with DL makes this really nice, I think.
