Fresh XP on Laptop w/ Dock?

Well I have a Sony PCG-R505GL, not under warrenty anymore I believe. It's the really thin one, 30GB HD, 1.2 PIII-m, 256mb RAM. It has the docking station with the IEEE, USB, Parallel, Disk drives, etc. I'm tired of running 30 processes at once with all of this Sony stuff on here. I'm thinking of installing my copy of XP Pro on here.

Questions:

1. Will it detect my docking station or will I have problems? (CD Drive mainly as I will install Linux also)
2. Is my Alps mouse "pad" going to be detected?
3. How do I reinstall the "Power Profile Manager" that came on here? (I really like it)
4. Will my hotkeys for Muting and Volume and Screen Brightness still work?
5. If something goes wrong, can I simply reinstall XP with the CD's that came from Sony?
