So I just installed Windows 7 after my hd became corrupt. Pretty stable and nice!
What applications do you immediately install on a fresh Windows loadup?

Whatever it is that I need, really. If you're just curious though as to what it is I install: Adobe Reader, Office, Mozilla, Anti Virus, Spyware/Malware Scanner, Nero software. You know, the basics.

I usually install:

MS Office, Foxit Reader, Winamp, VLC Player, FF, Stickies, SpeedFan, Superantispyware / Malwarebytes.

MS Office, Foxit Reader, VLC, iTunes, Firefox, NIS 2009, ImgBurn, uTorrent.

I know it's much more, but that's all I can think of. I usually just install things as I need them.

Definitely AV and SpyWare 1st.

Even Big Sites like MS have been sort of hijacked with "Ads" that don't look like ads and then take you to a Malware site.

Most of the Biggies have been mentioned.

Avira antivir or AVG , Winrar, VLC player, imageburn, acronis true image, daemon tools, dvd shrink, cpu-z, gpu-z, prime95 for quads or Orthos, real temp, core temp, 3d mark vantage, quicktime alternative, ultra iso, winiso, adobe reader , hd tune, convertX to dvd, then i copy and paste my backed up favorites/bookmarks for my browser.

Then i do a virus scan, set my homepages, setup my email, defrag and use acronis to image my new/clean install.

- Some sort of AntiVirus/AntiSpy
- 7zip
- Some ISO burner/ripper
- OpenOffice
- Firefox + extensions
- Thunderbird/Sunbird + extensions
- A/V Codecs (though apparently no longer needed on Windows 7 for most files)
- Adobe Reader
- Notepad++
- Zune Software

Just rebuilding a computer for my friend and I'm in that stage of what to install. So far I have Office, Avira, Firefox and Malware Bytes. Need to grab Adobe Reader and that'll probably be it.
