Strange and annoying issue. i7 based system with Windows 7 Pro 64bit running on an Intel 120GB SSD.

Upon install completion, the DVD drive shows top, but nothing is recognized that I insert. Not the Windows 7 DVD and no my driver DVDs/CDs I need to run. I have tried other DVD drives i have here. Nope. Nothing.

Making matters worse, I have no Internet access. It just can't find the connection, which is wired. Worked fine this morning.

None of this happened last year when I built this system. I am confused and don't know how to proceed.

Have you tried the obvious yet? Swap the cable? Try a different SATA port? DVD drives are easy to come by too, just throw another one in there and give it a go.

Updating this... No idea why this all happened, but for some smart reason i had placed some chipset drivers on a USB stick. Installed from that and Presto! It all started working. So I am happy.
