fresh Win7 install probs

Just built a sandy bridge PC with ASUS P67 pro. Fresh install of windows and installed many drivers using the accompanying ASUS cd.

Windows update ran fine and other programs worked at first. Now I cannot get to windows update and other programs wont open. I click on them and get the "thinking" mouse cursor, it stops, and nothing.

What can I do here?

Cant see get to device manager. Need to double click on certain applications 2-4 times before they open. Sometimes they shut down for no reason. I have no idea why this would happen.

Do I need to reinstall?

Before you reinstall, have you checked all the hardware? I'd at minimum try booting a Memtest86 CD to ensure that you don't have a bad stick of memory.

Yea, this definitely sounds like a hardware problem. Bad memory, cables, heat, etc can all cause weird symptoms like those.

I reinstalled and carefully installed drivers. System is running perfect now.

I went a little crazy first time around installing drivers off the cd.

This time I only installed the LAN driver and grabbed only the latest other necessary drivers.
