And lets the world know he's an ass

<< Will Smith has never been shy. But now that he's played Muhammad Ali, his ego has swollen to the size of a small planet.

"Making movies and music and entertainment [are] just a pit stop on the way to my true greatness," Smith declares in the December issue of Playboy. "I honestly think I could be the President of the U.S. if I really wanted to."

While he bides his time in show business, he confesses he doesn't think much of his rap rivals.

Will Smith
"A lot of people who have been blessed with this forum aren't really smart," says Smith. "I have educated myself beyond a lot of my peers."

He allows that Eminem "is really creative but so far over the top that it's clearly a farce."

He also taunts his Hollywood competition. "I want Tom Cruise to take movies that I turn down. I want you to have to ask Tom Cruise, 'So what does it feel like to have to wait until Will turns it down?' I want you to have to ask Tom Hanks, 'If Will turns down the next whatever, will you take it?'"

Smith admits his movie "Wild Wild West" "wasn't any good." But he believes he was "born to play" Ali: "I felt like there was nobody in the world who could do this but me."

Pumped and buffed into heavyweight perfection, he also boasts: "The average person on the street, I will beat the living c--- out of."
>>

I'm glad he still has his humility.

Wow, how the mighty have fallen. A once noble icon in sitcom television and upbeat rap music has lowered himself to this....

Hey - if you had Jada Pinkett you'd be an arrogant bastard too. ;)

Actually this is good news. My wife Elita1 thinks Will is a hottie, so this is good ammo if he ever rings my doorbell to sweep her away. ;) :)

("Don't go with him honey! He's an ass! Honey? Hello?" - j/k :D)

Woah, woah, woah people!!! Calm down and think about this for a minute...

Remember right before the movie "Man on the Moon" came out? Jim Carrey was in the news because he actually got in a "fight" with that wrestler guy, which was very similar to what happened with Andy Kaufman and the same wrestler? Jim Carrey was putting himself in Andy's shoes on AND off the set.

The same thing is happening here. We all know that Ali has/had one of THE biggest ego's in sports and entertainment histrory. The Fresh Prince is merely staying in character by imitating Ali's ego. He's probably doing this to promote the moive, just like Jim Carrey promoting "Man on the Moon." ;)

i saw and episode on the travel or food channel where it showcased his 'toys' He's got a custom built trailer that actually expands. And I mean literally. From 10ft wide to 14 ft wide. And even vertically as well. What a arrogant m-f-er though.

Will Smith is one of my favorite actor of all time. Because of his good humor, great acting, and humble-ness

I'll take this article printed in Playboy mag like a grain of salt.

Geez you have some fun talking gibberish smack and you're critized as an "asshole" and "ego size of a small planet" Give the guy some break.

I guess most of you have never seen an interview with Will Smith. He's usually playing/joking around. Add to that the fact he's playing one of the cockiest athletes in history and you're bound to get some good quotes.

Will Smith is very well liked and I really doubt he was serious about all the things printed in the NY Daily News. He is a very humble man.

humble he isn't; never has been. but i think the quotes are out of context and most likely he's not too serious about it.

That's really not that big of a deal. It's called a pop-out, and it's pretty common on motorhomes and trailers now. My parents had something like that for awhile in a motorhome (RV) they had. It was really cool, you were driving down the road in this motorhome, and they you stop to camp and put the pop-out out, and its like being in someone's living room. It was actually bigger than the living room in my parents condo.

what's funny is that he isn't that great of an actor, and now to top it off he's an ass.

Oh yeah....we really need another actor-turned-president. The last one was such a success...let's do it again. NOT.:|

That doesnt sound like something he would say. Why would he just up and change his attitude like that?

Did anyone think that he was speaking this way because of the upcoming movie? Did anyone ever know Muhammed Ali to be humble? Maybe he is playing the part up until the day of release? Jim Carey has been known to do this... I think it's very possible... Will smith seems to have done a 180... I think it may be a stunt...

[EDIT] Sorry Sonic, I didn't get to read your post.... but we agree completely... [/EDIT]

I think some of you need to take method acting lessons to really understand what's going on here..

When Jim Carrey played Andy Kaufman, he did NOTHING but research Andy and ape him for MONTHS to get into character. In essence he BECAME Andy for a while, which, if you read interviews, really scared the crap out of people who knew him b/c they thought he was going insane. I wouldn't doubt if the same phenomenon happened to Will Smith - where he's lived/breathed Ali for enough time that he actually takes on his characteristics.

Give him until a couple months after the movie is released; see if he doesn't go back to his old cool sellf :)
