Frequent Fliers: questions for you...

I'm wondering, I was thinking of taking a trip and I was looking at various airlines and there's some things that just doesn't make sense. For example, a trip to someplace farther is more expensive than somewhere that's closer. So my question to you all is, would I be penalized if I don't take flights that I schedule for?

I want to go to Korea, but it will cost less if I took the trip to HK (they go to korea first, then another flight to hong kong. same for the way back, hong kong to korea then korea to usa). Technically it's possible to just stay in Korea and then go back on the latter flight.

Is this doable or will there be problems? I looked at the rules and it looks like they are talking a foreign language to me!

Thanks.

I wouldn't try it, primarily because airlines are aware that people try it.

First, you obviously can't check any baggage, or it would get sent to HK. So you have to carry on whatever you would be taking. Then, the airline would have the right to bill you the difference in cost when they see you got off in Korea. They'll cancel your reservations for the return trip also.

Now, maybe someone has actually gotten it to work, but I wouldn't try it.

damn them... because i much rather go to korea than hong kong and the dates they have are perfect (in terms of setting a vacation early next year). thanks for the reply regardless though.
