Error in EventViewer: Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0008029E7560. The following error occurred:
The semaphore timeout period has expired. . Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.

The problem goes away after each reboot but laptop is then disconnected 15 mins following the login in the operating system. I'm desperate. Any help would be appreciated.

OS: Windows XP Home Edition SP2
Network adapter: Realtek RTL8139C+ Fast Ethernet NIC
Browser: Firefox

Your laptop nic is having trouble renewing it's IP from the router. Try setting a static IP address for your NIC to see if you can maintain connectivity for a period of time. If you can then you may want to disable dhcp in your router, upgrade it's firmware, or try new drivers for your laptop NIC.

Do you know your dhcp settings so you can set your laptop up with a static one?

You could try reinstalling your NIC drivers too.
