French Surrender

MARWAHEEN, Lebanon (AFP) - UN and Israeli tanks have been involved in a brief face-off on a road in southern Lebanon where the Israeli army has been setting up checkpoints.

Four French Leclerc tanks with UN peacekeepers moved up the hill to stand 500 meters (yards) from the entrance to the border village of Marwaheen, as two Israeli Merkava tanks operated nearby on Lebanese soil.

Standing some 50 meters from each other, the tanks were locked in a 20-minute face-off, the first between the Israeli army and the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), which has been boosted to oversee the current truce.

The French tanks then withdrew from the area, as observers of the UN Truce Supervision Organisation deployed in the area.

Israeli soldiers confiscated the identity cards of photographers at the scene, claiming they may give pictures of the Israeli military to militants of the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah.

Israeli forces, whose country fought a July-August war with Hezbollah, have set up flying checkpoints in the area in the past two days, prompting the Lebanese government to file complaints to UNIFIL.

OK, more like French tanks ran away.

no, it's more fun to take things out of context to make a misleading point. i learned this from years of watching the liberal media.

I didn't know that Faux News is liberal media

you learn something new every day:beer:

Fox News is one channel vs CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, HLN, PBS...

btw FNC is only 10 years old. FNC is also very unbiased when presenting straight news, and very balanced when presenting opinion. Hannity has Colmes; O'Reilly (I don't even consider the guy a "conservative") always has liberals on; greta is i have no clue bc i don't watch. You are so used to left-wing news sources that when you watch FNC presenting a moderate point of view, you consider it right-wing...well because it's to the right of you.

I can't believe you consider fox news to be a moderate media outlet. Just because it fits your beliefs (being "conservative") you consider it moderate and unbiased. I bet any news show that shows something negative about the current administration you consider it "liberal" even if what they happen to report happens to be the truth. Personally, I distrust all the news organizations in the US because they care more about ratings than actually reporting the real news. I've spent some time in Europe and many of the news stations there focus more on the issues that affect everyone (mostly politics) and less on stuff like who killed Natalie Holloway, or other similar recent stories.

Not going to touch this one.

Well, first of all cable news is more entertainting and oriented more towards ratings than it is actual news. Secondly, Fox News is the master at combining news with entertainment so it appeals to more people to get better ratings. It shows in the ratings where Fox News beats the other cable channels and has been doing so for a while. I can't blame them for having this sort of a format. Many Americans seem to want this and that is what Fox news is trying to get at. CNN has been dissapointing me for a while now, but occasionally they are good.

You should get your news from a variety of sources and read it with caution.

I agree with all your premises and your conclusion. Since all speech is inherently biased, it's important to recognize the bias and adequately judge the source.

There's no shortage of ways to make fun of the French...

trying to make a funny out of the fact that French tanks were used... is not one of them.
