French fries cooked in olive oil = healthy?

Very familiar with that article (& her subsequent ones and speeches on Youtube). Some of her stuff has been debunked as well, interestingly enough. In nutrition, everything is a blame game, partly because we really don't have sufficient data on everything, and partly because everyone's body chemistry is different - different things work for different people. And looking at the broader picture, diet doesn't even really have anything to do with living longer:

So...eat some french fries. Maybe not every day, but you're going to die anyway, so unless it's directly making you fat & sick, why not enjoy life a little? 🙂

Now this is where we can agree.

Excellent, makes for better discussion then! I'm no model citizen myself...I sometimes make burgers for breakfast to get my protein in :awe: But I do enjoy seeing other perspectives & learning mainstream & well as alternative theories of what the optimal ways to health are. Heart disease, stroke, and diabetes are some of the top killers in America (over a million people a year combined), which is stuff that we've learned, scientifically, can be prevented through a diet change.

Despite what all of the different diets clamor on about...vegan, paleo, etc...I think most people experience the greatest health change by simply getting off preservative-packed, factory-made foods. It's such a change for people to start eating whole foods, whether that's paleo with meat or vegan without meat, that their bodies generally heal up pretty quickly. Not to mention all of the crazy stuff we're dealing with in high amounts these days like food allergies, cancer, etc.
