you would spend significantly more for fries that would not taste nearly as good if they were fried in peanut oil, and IMHO, wouldn't get the satisfaction from eating it that's worth it

eat whatever you want and do extra cardio

All the Carcinogens from Olives oil Lower smoke point will sure fix up anything good about it.

There is a reason why peanut/Canola is used and not olive.

This

I wouldn't do it. I have tried them with sunflower oil and they were great.

Someone recently turned me onto the "cold oil method" for french fries:

http://www.dessertfortwo.com/2014/07/french-burgers-french-fries/

Basically:

1. Chop potatoes
2. Cover with cold oil in pot & boil for 5 minutes
3. Cook another 20 minutes, stirring every 5 or 10 minutes

Saves you from having to do the water soak & double fry (which is how you get really good french fries). These definitely come out lighter, but my family makes them disappear in minutes every time

can't tell if serious.

absolutely does not work this way. CANNOT out work your diet. You are much better off eating less and not doing cardio.

sigh.. the only carbs I have left are starchy veggies.
carrot, peas, potatoes.

unfortunately, that's the only veggies I eat.

sweet potatoes chilled in the fridge after baking are as good as any sugary snack to me

oatmeal with cinnamon (maybe a few raisins) and sugar free syrup

why are you cutting out fruits? apples, bananas and berries are a staple in my diet

Bro...bro. You are just on the wrong diet. If you like carbs, you need to go Fruitarian! (srs) PM me if you want more info (since this thread is about french fries)

oh my.. doesn't sound like its for me.

wait.. if I like carbs, how does a fruit, veggie only diet help?

Start here: (language warning)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKZF-cDmDWg

Then read this book:

http://www.amazon.com/80-10-Diet-Bal...dp/B00I0UM8UC/

Adult males require a minimum of 3,000 calories on this diet; if you're active, it can be 4k or 5k daily. It is literally a truckload of food, but you get used to it after a couple weeks. It's basically a raw food diet (no cooking required!) with a focus on fruit. People seem to get pretty good results from it:

Sounds crazy, works awesome. Best meal plan in terms of having high energy all day long that I've ever done.

Also, it's basically pure carbs...pure sugar. Low fat, high fiber. So here's the rest of my food for the day:

http://i.imgur.com/BvxBHIc.jpg

Rough numbers:

1 canary melon = 300 calories
6 bananas = 600 calories
9 large oranges = 800 calories
9 mangos = 1800 calories

That's about 3500 calories. Already had 1000 calories of fresh Medjool dates for breakfast, so that will be about 4500 calories overall for today. You have to eat a lot more calories than usual on a fruit-based raw vegan diet. The bonus is that you get to eat all the time & that all of your food tastes awesome, totally the opposite of calorie restriction!

You can either eat the food or make a smoothie out of it...I just add water & blend up the bananas. I like eating mangos, so I chop those up in a large bowl. Throw a bunch of oranges into a blender to make OJ (full pulp = all the fiber). Mono meals are encouraged (easier to digest...just eat a meal of one type of fruit). And yes, you can build muscle on it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TwXHsSE5Vg

Lots of people lose weight on it, like this lady:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ePo5x4f55Y

It changes the way you eat, the way you feel, and the way you perceive food. You can still have pizza or a burger or whatever you want, but you just don't eat fruit after it, so save the cooked stuff for the end of the day (fruit digests in 20 minutes, cooked food takes 2 hours...you'll get massive gas if you eat a ton of fruit after eating cooked food, don't ask me how I know that lol...). You have to be pretty open-minded to not dismiss it as an extreme diet & actually give it a shot, so it's definitely not for everyone, but if you like carbs & like eating, this meal plan is the bomb!

I used to struggle eating breakfast or even drinking 8 ounces of water in the morning thanks to that not-so-great feeling of fulness I'd sometimes have. Now I can drink half a gallon when I wake up, no sweat. Tons of energy, feel great all day. I've been doing this all summer. Sometimes I'll do fruit all day, sometimes I'll have a burger at the end of the day or just some veggies like roasted butternut squash & baked french fries depending on what I'm in the mood for.

It's an interesting way to eat, if you can overcome the initial weirdness of the idea. If you want to lose weight, eat as much as you want, and feel great all the time, it's a pretty good way to go. I've been trying to go back to my meat & potatoes bodybuilding diet, but I keep slipping back into the fruit-based lifestyle because it's so easy...the ultimate lazy man's diet...you never have to cook anything & you can go to town on food

So a cold potato? Gotta try that, I love basic healthy foods.

Oil is oil even if came from healthy source. Too much of something still spells unhealthy. Fries can absorb too much oil so eating too much fries even if it was cooked using olive oil is still not good to our body. Maybe some few stick of fries will be nice.

French Fries are unhealthy because they are highly-glycemic carbs.

Also frying is never the healthiest way to prepare a food.

I cut sweet potatoes into coins and then use tempura batter or just dip in egg. I do the same or similar with Yellow squash and Green Zucchini. Don't use real big seedy ones. Cook them all together and eat them. Zucchini and Squash are also good just fried with a little pepper and salt with some yellow onions.
