Man that ish can get dangerous. A few years ago we had a really bad ice storm that downed power lines and cut power to some folks for over 2 weeks. I had some really good pics of it...trees all weighed down and leaning over cars, etc.

Freezing ice is teh evil.

I like when trees get the 1/2" frost on them though, looks cool :D

When I worked the night shift at Kohls, we had an ice storm kinda like that, except it included almost 3 feet of snow. Hehe, it was fun shoveling out my car, banging off the ice, then sitting in the car while it heated up, oy, then driving him . . . before the plows were out. Fun.

98, right? Some parts of quebec and ontario were also badly hit, thankfully not here.

A little freezing rain might be pretty, especially if the sun is shining, but it quickly turns sour as ice accumulates. We've had 3 significant ice storms since Feb 2003: 1.75 inches, 0.75 inches and last night we got around 0.5 inches.

As you can imagine, 1.75 inches of ice weighs a lot and can do enormous damage. Large chunks of the city were powerless for a week, some didn't get power for 2 weeks. In the dead of winter. Crews were still cleaning up the mess in August 2003.

Here's what my yard looked like that morning:
side yard
front yard

One of the benefits of the last 2 ice storms was that it tended to weed out the weaker trees and limbs because I didn't notice much damage at all from last night's storm.

Here's what it looked like out my windows this morning:

Sorry 'bout the image quality. It was colder than a witch's booty so I wasn't about to open the window to get a clearer image :)

I live on Lake Lanier just north of Atlanta, so there are a LOT of pine trees surrounding the lake on Army Corps property. We had a freezing rain storm a few years ago, and I woke up in the middle of the night and thought our neighbor was shooting off his AK (don't ask) again...then realized it was the pine branches cracking and splitting all around us. There were several loud cracks per second for about a half an hour. We ended up with about 20 trees down in plain sight in a small area, I'm sure there were several more in the thicker wooded regions. The power was out for several days and we were some of the more fortunate ones in the area.

When I was 12/13 we got about 2" of freezing rain here in chicago after a fresh snow. I remember it so vividly. Me and my brother put on our ice skates and went icescating in the street, and all over a park, including up and down the sleeding hill. It was so freaky ice skating on a hill.

a75 is 3.2mp a60 is 2.

Those are great pics for an a60. I wish I still had my A40.

Hopefully will be unwrapping an a95 on saturday though.
