I overheard the a lady at the returns counter saying that they will not PM and their counter will not even be OPEN in the morning. I don't know if this is nationwide, so YMMV.

I call BS. They said the same thing a few years back when I worked there during BF, and they still price matched. It is their policy.

So they won't price match... this just means you return-and-repurchase.

Not open that morning? Make enough commotion, and they will be. Ask to speak to managers. Speak loudly enough to be heard by the sheep in the checkout lines. Ask if this is what all customers can expect.

All the more reason to buy on-line. Often, even when the newspaper flyer clearly states "IN STORE ONLY", you'll find the same deals and rebates on the website.

i dont even PM at the return counter. if i do it, i do it at the check-out register. if they need to question it, they can always call a manager over.

One question, around what time do you think items will be available online? I really really absolutely MUST get that flat panel... please... everyone... don't get it, haha.

as a former employee, i would have to confirm this discovery. last year i was a Computer Services asst mgr and we used the returns and exchanges area for overflow checkouts. This was a planned move as we were not accpeting returns till 12pm (noon) when the Special Advertisment/specials ended. Also it said in the ad last year that no prior pricematches were to be accpeted due to the fact that the prices were only good during that 5 hour period.

I say open every item that you can return open without penalty and F@#$@ them!
They are screwing their best customers.
I'm not shopping at Best Buy this year. period.

The only thing that I was somewhat interested in was the Liteon dvd burner. I just noticed that they pulled if from their site already. It's still there, but doesn't have the option to buy it online for delivery or in-store pickup. It's too much work for me to get the Liteon drive, so I guess I'll be skipping BB too this year.

LMAO! I love how people demand to be allowed to cheat the system. Clearly the intent of the 5-hour sale is to reward those that make the commitment to get in to the store during that time.

They caught on to the PM trick. It was good while it lasted, now MOVE ON!

I remember last bf I think bb had most of its stuff online by around 3 oclock on the morning of. I stayed up until midnight and they didn't have it. Ended up going to B&M anyway.

They are talking about buying something today and then going back friday morning to get the fire sale price.

This to me is BS, you want the sale wait in line. PM is designed for those that didn't realize, not those trying to beat out someone else on the deal.

This isnt BS. BS is when ppl get baited into your store, wait 2 hrs in line, then find out that "awww, geeee, we only had 10 of those in stock. Next year try getting here @ midnight."

And, btw, since their crack legal team has shut down all early web postings of their ads, then there's no way anyone could have found out about that HD, Video card, Laptop, etc, is there?

I hope they refuse to PM. I need an excuse to return this $1100 worth of crap.

Very true! If BB wants to play fair, they should guarantee a hard drive or dvd burner or whatever that they have in their sale ad to every person that shows up bright and early and wants one. Even if that means giving rain checks.

Actually, they will run out of the items long before the 5 hours is up anyway so they aren't rewarding anyone for anything. They are basically doing a variation of the old Bait and Switch by offering all kinds of things that won't actually be available 30 minutes after the store opens.

I dont' shopw at BB any more. I used to work there and thought it was fine, but recent bad experiences that just seem to keep happening have drove me away. All the stores have the same priced items anyway to CS is what the stores are about and BB has about the worst CS I've had in a very long time.

Oh well.

Yes rain checks would make it worth the effort. Wish they offered them.

Uh, it's quite obvious that the minimum 10 per STORE note on most of the black friday ad's is not there for entertainment purposes.
Don't even put this up on BB, you are saying that every person that walks through the door at the given time should be eligible for whatever product they want? Exactly what Retailers DO THIS?
Please lmk as I don't know any, evidently I need to move to your city as mine is underpriviledged.

You scoff, yet you don't know of what you speak.

For one, on a non-Black-Friday basis would be OfficeMax. If they offer a non-free-after-rebate item in the ad, and they run out, they often substitute. For the Canon A70 deal a few weeks back, they were offering a better ($100 more expensive) Olympus digicam as a substitute. I was eavesdropping on a sale while waiting at the front counter.

Don't like that one, how about this one?

Still not convinced, ay? How about this one? It's true, or at least it was last year. They had the ubiquitous $40 Apex DVD player, and were substituting better quality players at the end of the day.

Sorry, but 10 per store, combined with a long line outside, and line cutters in front isn't for me. Maybe it would be more efficient, and fair, to issue numbers for the line. Would it be a zoo getting in? No more so than it currently is. Course, that wouldn't be fair to the linecutters, now would it?

Anyhow, you now stand corrected.

Good job on the owning part. Guess I'll be watching other deals instead of BB's crap.

I don't think they should guarantee an item for everyone that shows up within the 5 hour period, but should offer a rain check or some kind of a coupon for those who stood in line before the store opened. They hand out other free "worthless" crap while you're in line. Why not give them a voucher that will enable them to get a rain check on an item if they've waited in line before the store opened and then the item isn't there by the time they get in the store.

That's all that I ask for..

Hmm...that sucks. Well, guess I'm just going to look for free CD-Rs or something. You can never have enough free CD-Rs.
