New system is killin me...

T-bird 800
Abit KT7
128k Mushkin Rev2
Inno3d Tornado Gfrce2MX (with fan, heatsink)
---

Problem: UT GOTY freezes at random (not necessarily when under heavy stress) -occasionally when finding internet games, sometimes when playing single player, more often during online multiplayer. Mechwarrior4 locks up ALL THE TIME! ARG!

Diagnosis: ? (This is where you come in.) Ususally run the MX O/C @ 205/195, but still freezes at default. System is not OCed.

Any ideas??? (It seems that UT lock ups are common prob- how bout MW4?) This is makin me wish i bought a Dell...

TIA

my elsa mx, duron 650, epox 8kta2, win98, directx7, no matter elsa driver or nvidia 6.31, 6.43 from elsa, 6.49 from evga, always freezes when scrolling in ie or netscape, nvidia pond small demo, or suddenly freezes even not doing anything. it even happens in another celeron with intel chipset system.

my solution: return the card, never buy nvidia card again.

What OS you running...? I had alot of freezing problems in Win2k with Counterstrike. I disabled ACPI and the freezing stopped. The only side effect is the CPU runs hotter with ACPI disabled.

THEJUICE, have you installed VIA's 4 in 1 driver? If not, go download and install it.

THEJUICE, if you still can't make it to work without problem after tried mb bios update, via driver update, nvidia driver update like mine, you'll decide to return it.

I would make sure that its not something else causing the lockups,
Try running a CPU stability test
make sure your RAM is good.

In Kingofcomputers sake, I have a hard time beleaving that your video card was the cause of netscape locking up?

At first I thought it's via problem, but I tried it in a celeron/intel chipset mb system, same problem happens, so it's either ELSA's problem or Nvidia's problem.

I still have a hard time thinking that your video card is going to cause netscape to freeze. Durring normal web browsing, there is so little stress on the video card that if there was THAT much wrong with the card you probably wouldn't get any image at all.

Have you tried putting in a new video card to see if it goes away? That would be a step, and also if you previously had a different card, 3fx, ati, etc make sure that all the drivers are completely gone. Another thing to check would be IRQ conflicts. I just don't think its the video card itself.

The problem of lock-ups while scrolling in IE or Netscape is quite common for systems using Epox 8KTA/+/2 motherboards and GF2 MX video cards. It is cured by flashing to either the 11/10 or 12/13 bios. If you have tried these bios' Kingofcomputer and it still doesn't work then you will be the first of about 20 cases I've heard of that didn't succeed.:(

However, I even tried this bad card in a Intel celeron with intel chipset mb system, got same problem. So I must say it's the card bad.
