Freeze ups all day long!!!!!!!!! WTF

I cannot play more than 5 maps in unreal tourny?
I have tried everything you can think off.
Here is my set up
socket t-bird 900 @ 900 (did have it @1000 but thought mabe prob)
abit kt7raid mobo
ibm ata100 hd
Geforce 2 64mb (prophet)
mx400
450 psu (enermax)
good RAM 380 mb
WIN98SE


every det driver
every version of Unreal T
every agp aputer size
4x agp, 2x agp , 1xagp
RAM set @ case2 & 3
all the setting in the video drivers
sound card pulled outta computer
3 diff NIC cards
diff mobo agp drivers
diff direct x's (7 & 7a)

sombody please !!!! help

Can u give us more info? Like what happens when it freezes? Does it happen everytime? Do you experience any other problems other than UT? When does this start happening?

 

It's Prob your sound card, My MX300 locked me like crazy untill i got a platinum

I agree ,try a SBlive in your system if it works fine then your own soundcard is the problem ,what about BIOS tweaks like fastwrites disabled etc.

It can't be the sound card, he said he pulled it... what heatsink/fan are you using? Lockups like that can often be attributed to heat and lack of airflow... With your GTS and 900 mhz cpu, i'm sure both get hot... i would suggest perhaps a case fan(s) and putting on a "real" heatsink, not that retail junk (if that's the case). If you are using the retail hs/f, i'd suggest switching to an alpha PAL6035, they're hard to find though. I bought a GlobalWin FOP 38, with a delta fan (7000 RPM). Noisy as all hell though, but very efficient.

I have a PAL on it with the 36CFM fan on the PAL
I have plenty of cooling its deff not that(case fans everywhere).
I have tried with fastwrites enabled & disabled no change.

When somone enter the game or exits the game (via internet play)
it kinda stutters for a sec like it want to lock.
& i have notice on the HUD that when it does lock , most the time someone was entering the game?

like i said tho i tried couple diff NIC cards & no change , could it be a NIC setting?

meaty ,have you tried Unreal Tournament tweak guide from here .Also when you pulled the card did you remove the drivers as well.

hmm i didnt remove drivers. very good question tho i will try it.

Also try it with a SBlive,the reason why is lots of games will not run without a soundcard (not sure if UT will run without one)so you need to find out if your MX400 is the problem.
