freeware sms/text message for PC

I am looking for freeware sms/text message to send and recieve on windows vista and easy interface I do have tmobile but they do have text message for sending only not recieve via tmobile website and my cell phone is hard to read for my eyes
 
Two thoughts come to mind: Skype and Twitter.

Twitter is more or less for SMS blogging. That might or might not be right for you. But it's free.

I believe Skype lets you do real SMS; but while the software is free (as in beer, not speech), you do need to pay for service. You have to pay for service with tmobile, too, after all.
 
i wonder about skype software does it need to be online 24/7 just to recieve and send messages?
gmail plugin? i dont think google has one but i will look at it

i dont mind paying small fee for the service if it is good
