Ya. Knoppix is a great advertisement for Linux. It's wonderfull when everything "just works". The first time I tried out one of these live cdroms I had my computer booted up in it for 2 days straight before I realised it.
It's actually a modified version of Debian testing (or unstable) with some add-ons for slickness and to make it work better from just booting from a CDROM. You can install it on your harddrive if you want. Of course after a while of using it more and more of Linux's rough edges will start popping up, but I like it. After reading a bunch of stuff and adjusting to the change, most things become fairly trivial to accomplish after searching around google for pointers and tips about whatever your trying to accomplish.
Spotty hardware support from vendors and lack of games is the major things holding it back from the "enthusiests" point of view, I guess. And the learning/time consuming aspects of it. I figure it's a trade off, more time learning vs spending time defragging or running anti-malware applications. Nothing is perfect.
Hope qtparted works out. Be sure to back up your important stuff first though..
