I'm working in a news station and putting the video up on the web site at night. What I have to do is go to the newscutter machine, chop the video in to sections and export it. We have a Telestream FlipFactory that converts it to .flv. Then I have to scour the video to find thumbnails and pictures for the stories. I have to set an in point at each of these and then export them as jpegs.

Thumbnails are small, 120x100, the pics for the stories are generally 320x240.

What I'm looking for is something that I can point to an .flv, have it grab both of these frames in both of these sizes and place them in the directory. Can be completely random.

Another reason I'm looking for this is that I will sometimes have to import video directly from tape and with out it being on the avid machine first, there's no way for me to grab frames from it.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Well, you can just Save Image As in Media Player Classic. You would have use another image editing program to resize them, but many programs will allow you to automate that.

Well, that might be an alternative for pulling frames from tapes I import directly on the machine. Won't help with the news show stuff because i can just grab the frames manually on Avid.
