Ok, so I have Freespace and the expansion, and I loved it. I never played Freespace 2 though, and I've never seen it in stores here. Anyone know a CHEAP place online to find it? I don't even know where to look, I never purchase games online.

Only played 2.

Looks better than half of the games produced this day.

Undoubtedly the best game in its class.

Freelancer/X2:The Threat dont quite encompass the same genre imo.

Should be able to find it on ebay or amazon's marketplace.

I agre that Freespace was an awesome game. The only reason I ever played it was because it came with my Logitech force feedback joystick I bought about 4 or 5 years ago. Definitely the game that defines force feedback as an immersive tool.

Did you play Freelancer? How much better is Freespace? If it is graphically equivalent and much more fun I'll hunt for a copy myself.

I love Freelancer, I still keep it installed for when I need a quick fix.

I had a pair of 3D "glasses" that I got with my ASUS v6600 Deluxe (waaaay back in the day) and I never used them. They were very uncomfortable to use while wearing my regular glasses.

Eh, I only played the demo of Freelancer, but it was nothing like Freespace. Freespace is more of a space military sim. You actually fly the ship, do combat missions, stuff like that. But one of its big points was scale. Nothing like ships that are 100x the size of yours. Their website had a picture that showed the scale, it was fun to play with. You could zoom in and out and stuff. I don't see it on their page anymore though.

Sadly Freespace 2 has been out of print for ages, and if I recall correctly there was some dispute over the publishing right so Interplay couldn't crank out a cheap jewel case version.

I've only ever played the demo, but it looked cool.

Freelancer was a good attempt, but seemed unfinished. (There were a very limited set of missions to do)

Freespace 2 is a great game.

I miss Wing Commander
