Freepers Creepers Take Hollywood

Tip o' the hat to Wonkette for bringing this to my attention.

Freepers

Literally threes and maybe tens of the Free Republic kids stormed the Oscars last night, to make some point about Hollywood being against the elections in Iraq. F**king Hillary Swank man; she hates those Iraqis, you know? I heard she forced Iraqi prisoners to form a naked human pyramid. Oh wait.. From the Freep report:

In retrospect, I think it is important to POUND THE "PURPLE REVOLUTION" SYMBOLISM HOME, OVER AND OVER until it becomes as AT LEAST AS ubiquitous as the idiotic "WAR IS NO THE ANSWER" [sic] bumper stickers.

Yeah, pound that home, boys. That's the way Hollywood likes it. ?C.S.

------

With conservative types in control of our gov't, I guess their wrathful vengeance has turned to their two least-favorite things: Liberal Hollywood and liberal academia. The signs of their "righteous" battles are popping up all over the place these days.

Oh and for the guy with the W. Bush = 4; H.Wood = 0 sign. I have a sign of my own:

WMDs = 0

I think it means Barney is the next cartoon character to be "outed."

personally, as long as im not being protested, i dont care.
but at least political protests are aimed at people who are, in fact, influencing the issues being protested against.
i never really bought into the whole hollywood as a liberal tool thing.

Hollywood is full of liberal tools.

The pictures in the link show several supposed "patriots" disrespecting the flag and look like ignorant jerks imho.

Section 8 of the Flag Code includes:

Sec. 8. ? Respect for flag

d. The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker's desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.

g. The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.

j. No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart.

Maybe these fools should learn something about the flag they seem to think represents their position.

edit: All of the flag clothing was probably made in China anyway. I doubt they care about the rules.

Yeah, that Michael Eisner and his flaunting Fahrenheit 9/11 all over the place......oh wait.

Yeah, that Mel Gibson and his Passion of the Christ....oh wait.

You have to respect Gibson, because the press tried to bait him into a feud with Michael Moore and Gibson didn't want anything to do with it.

I think both he and Moore showed that Hollywood big-time moguls aren't necessary for distributing a film. Passion has grossed over $600 million worldwide now and Fahrenheit is at about $222 million.

I was just pointing out the ridiculous nature of nutxo's post (like it needed to be noted. 😉 )

Wait.. Fox News is 'proof' that the media leans to the right, and Mel Gibson is "proof" that Hollywood is not liberal? 😕

Hunh? Where'd FOX news and the media come into play? Disney is a HUGE factor in Hollywood. Eisner's ties to the GOP are not unknown.

But, the arts are typically more liberal, at least at the lowest level. When you start getting into corporate-owned/controlled arts/media, then the tide shifts to the right as it becomes more about making money and more money.

Hollywood just tries to make money. They make movies that they think people will pay to see. They generally make money at it. The right is just dumbfounded that there are a bunch of rich people in the industry with liberal views.

I was just referring the the general attitude from some here that a single oulier can be used to try and draw encompassing conclusions about a topic. Such as the 'news media' is not liberal because Fox exists, Hollywood is not "liberal' because of Eisner and a Baldwin or two, etc.

Hollywood *is* very liberal in their actions, philosophies, etc. Yes, the higher up CEO's recognize the futility in trying to put more $$ in their pockets with a Liberal attitude, so they lobby and vote Rebublican; which pretty much just makes the whole lot of them worthless hypocrits.

If we debate which would be better for the US - the secession of the South, or having California floating out to sea, I'd choose the latter in a heartbeat. 😉

MY post was more humor than anything else. Honestly, a person would have to be blind or an absolute moron to think that hollywood is anything but left leaning.
