The German constitution does not allow life sentences with pardon as the only way out. Early release is possible if the following conditions are met:
[*]15 years of the sentence have passed
[*]The prisioner is not a danger to the public
[*]The guilt is not grave enough to require the sentence to countinue (in practice especially grave guilt results in 23-25 years instead of 17-19)
[*]The lifer agrees
