FreeBSD 5.3 is released, 5-STABLE branch started.

I don't think 5.3 has been tagged "as" STABLE. Indeed, STABLE has been tagged and it probably contains a lot of stuff from 5.3, but the two are not one in the same.

Ahh, good observation 🙂. There's a difference, but it's subtle. 5.3-RELEASE is out, and the FreeBSD team is now starting the 5-STABLE branch.

I am using a release canadate 1 on my laptop right now.. going to update as soon as I get back home. good stuff.

Also how long do you suppose it's going to take to get Gnome 2.8 in the ports collection?

I love those vector-based graphics solitare games... 😛

It's BSD time. Dragonfly released 1.0 not too long ago, IIRC. NetBSD Should be coming out with 2.0 soon if it hasn't already. OpenBSD 3.6 "officially" came out on the first, and now FreeBSD joins the pack with its first stable release in forever. 😀
