Freebird or Stairway ?

I hate them both almost equally. If I never heard them again, I'd be a happy camper. I guess I hate Freebird a little bit more. The way that song plods along in the beginning makes me want to eat a pistol :^(

This.

Two of the most overrated songs of all time. Preference to either is usually decided by your location relative to the Mason-Dixon Line.

whoa. too many techy metal geeks in here.

I'd say Stairway. Though I'm no huge Skynyrd fan or anything, Freebird is pretty bitchin'. And yes, I certainly grew up south of the Mason-Dixon.

Stairway to Heaven was a masterpiece of composition that got overplayed and worn out (too much of a good thing). It was the basis for much of the "power balad" rock of the 80's and 90's as well.

Freebird is a catchy rocker that kind of took some of Stairway's ideas, but approached it with a country twang. Not as innovative, IMO, but very well done.

Oh, I thought we were voting for which song reached my Lifetime Limit of Listening To first - stairway, of course. But not by much.

Stairway - I'm from the South but Freebird sort of annoys me.

With that being said, to be honest I'm not a huge fan of Stairway either.
