I'm confused as to why someone would need a different smtp server? It seems to me that by whatever method you connect to the internet, they provide you with a smtp server to use. Is there some advantage to using a different smtp server that i'm missing?

Thanks,

Thanks,

The return address format is changed, and you get a reply-to address for the account that doesn't normally use that smtp server.

But you can change your return address and reply-to address from within most popular e mail clients. Why go through all the trouble of getting a different smtp server for each?

A couple years ago, hotmail had this huge security crack that allowed anyone with a browser to read ANY hotmail account, just by knowing their email address. It is one reason why i will never use hotmail.

This things been working great for me since june. But now it suddenly doesnt work. I updated to the latest version and still nothing. If anyone knows if this still works then its still pretty hot...

Anyone know ANY open smtp servers anymore? When I'm in florida I use a friends AOL account to get my website's e-mail. My webhosting company provides incoming mail, and has me use my ISP's (comcast) smtp server to send mail. This is fine at home, but obviously, a problem when I want to send mail on the road. I use to use yahoo to send my mail through, but thats not an option anymore......

For all those people wondering why everyone is loving this program. It's because people want to use their email client, which yahoo wants to charge you for, instead of the online interface. This has a lot of advantages (especially if you use eudora 🙂).

Great find 1Cheap2Crazy!

make sure that the port your email uses is open... maybe in your users guide on that router/firewall... or in the online users guide...I'd read it. 😉

Is web2pop hosed on anyone elses connection now w/ the new Yahoo interface? did they change something? I don't understand... ONE of my accounts will check through web2pop...and the other one...my MAIN one Doesn't receive! here's the error:

Message number 1 could not be retrieved. Account: 'xxxxxxxx@yahoo.com', Server: 'web2pop', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR #-1', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800420CD

what up? anyone else have this happen? I'm going to look up the error # in the MS TechNet.

okay...nothing...I looked @

Q237961
Q303194
Q198704

after reading Q303194 I tried to simply leave one 2Kb email in there to download...and it STILL can't get it!!! WHAT THE HECK???

anyhow...I can still access it from the web... it's just not as convenient... and U know how LAZY us American's are!!! 😀 Or maybe it's just that we have a HIGHER level of expectations for our products 😉

someone please bump if they've received this error before and found a workaround.

All that work to find this: Web2Pop's Yahoo library does not work -yet- with the new yahoo.com webmail layout. Do not use it to have Web2Pop working. Thanks.
on JMAsoftware's website

heh...okay. I guess I have to wait for a patch or something now 😉

I like the new layout...too bad it doesn't work! 😀

Open up YahooPOPs! into the configuration window, select the yahoo interface back to Beta Interface.

This new interface was known but was in beta during the last release of YahooPOPs!

must be a new version of YahooPops...b/c I don't see that feature... off to dld 🙂
btw: Thanks... hope this works.
