I dunno whether it's hot or not (or every body else post this already)
but i think it is a good deal
Just go there and get some stuff
nothing wrong with that

<< What's the catch? >>

They get you to use their software, so you will get so used to it that you will end up buying the next version.

And you have to sit through 3.5 hours of them talking.

P.S. They are giving away Visual Studio.NET, XP pro could quite possibly be one of the extra "goodies".

Alright sweet stuff! There's one at UCLA, and my sister goes there. I'll head up there on March 4th and see what I can get. I don't care so much for Visual Studio .NET, but I really want a free Windows XP Pro 😀

EDIT:

Directly from their confirmation e-mail:

Remember, every event attendee will receive a full version of Visual
Studio .NET Academic, a full version of Windows XP Professional, plus a
chance to win* one of several great prizes which could include a Microsoft
XboxT, Microsoft Press® Books, $500 American Express Gift Certificates,
MP3 Players, and more.

So XP Pro is a guaranteed "extra goodie," not just a possible one.

If they were coming to Purdue I would go, but since they arent oh well. I'll just use my $5 dollar copy of WinXP Pro. (I bought it through the Microsoft Campus Agreement.)

That's what I wondered. Since the Visial .Net thing is an Academic version, they may enforce the students-only thing.

I don't know what's so bad about sitting thru a seminar for a FREE OS that's worth $300? Jeez, what were you gonna do with that time? Watch TV? Go to the seminar, take a book if you don't want to watch the show and GET THE SWAG!!! Score!!!

Not to rain on your parade, but I can get almost any MS software, including every version of Windows to date, for absolutely nothing because MS chose our campus to be the testing grounds of an online MSDNAA software delivery system. Just click and burn baby!!! 🙂

<SHAMELESS PLUG>BTW, all you CompSci majors or would be majors, UMASS is cheap and has one of the to 10 CS programs in the world. Plus, you get free MS software 🙂 I guess that's sort of a recruiting incentive!</SHAMELESS PLUG>

Yes... when I'm downloading all of the software I do suck a lot of bandwidth 😉
>>

hehe...even worse....a bandwidth leech..😀

Well someone's gotta use up some of the gigabit connection's bandwidth 😀

Not sure who told you that, but...

<< Not sure who told you that >>
