The reason that MS no longer gives out the promotional copies of XP at events is to prevent people who did not register from just showing up and claiming their certificate. Alkso, by forcing you to go online and entering your address info, they have your buisness address info for future marketing.

BTW - In addition to the above, you also get a free eval copy of MS SBS 2000 and some other marketing literature packaged in a nice little plastic case.

Does it say anything on the site confirming they're giving away XP Pro? I might be going blind but I didn't see it.

SoulAssassin,
MSFT called and invited me a few weeks ago. They called back a couple of days ago to confirm I was going, then they mentioned about the winxp for the first time. I didn't see anything on the website either.

YMMV.

I just went to a Microsoft Project Seminar, and I received Visio, SharePoint, and Office XP TRAIL software. I did not receive any FREE full version software as part of this Seminar, or any other Microsoft Seminar for that matter. So, it was a good thing I did not go to the seminar for FREE software I actually went to learn about the product.

I went to College for many years and have many degrees. As a result I am very comfortable and alert in Seminar situations, but if you don't have a true interest I would advise against going just for the FREE software. You may not get any.:Q
