Silly question here....
Does this let *cough* illegal copies of XP be updated?
No criminal intentions implied.
If SP1 is already installed yes
"My friend" downloaded and installed the developer version (I think that's what it was) version of SP2 last week and it's working for "him." "He" had SP1 installed before "he" upgraded to SP2.Originally posted by: dragonlord2112

Uhm, no. Supposedly, the blacklist of illegal serial codes was expanded in sp2 and if you have them and install sp2 you are sunk. It will let you install sp2, but after reboot it will bring up the "lets activate windows" prompt. You will have to system restore just to boot again. That's what I heard....
BTW: The new wireless wizard absolutely rocks.

or you could just download the network installer (266mb) and burn it to cd...
Does anyone have a direct link to a complete download on the MS site? (I am too lazy to look for it).

I saw free SP2 CDs at Staples the other day so I'm guessing instead of waiting a month+, you can just come in and pickup the free CD.

If you don't feel like waiting for CD or download, you could just ask a friend to beat your PC with a hammer, and get similar results.
BTW, all updates have been available individually.
This just combines them all, then adds a bunch of crap that most use 3rd party software for, which does a better job of protecting.
Received my CD Monday, but I will not install in any systems yet, and yes it includes extras like support tools.
Beta is installed in a test system, and works fine, but all extras like firewall are turned off.
If you have a PC working fine, wait, or it may require you to spend hours on trying to get it working again, with end result of restoring back to non-SP2.
Perfect. Thank you Oicur.Originally posted by: Oicur12
