I received windows 7 32 bit ultimate.
Widows 7 64 bit should be in the mail in 3 weeks!
Free norton!
Free kaspersky!

Secret..the norton and kaspersky offers are in the grab bag that they give out in the beginning of the event.
I got the 64 bit by talking to one of the Microsoft reps and filling out a form.

What a great day!
Lol.

P.S. there is also a 180 day trial of server 2008 R2 and a Microsoft t-shirt!

got the norton lol...and i seriously dont see the kaspersky anywhere :( the only sheet i have from kaspersky is the open space security release 2, which is only front and back.

xellos - same here. i would also like to be PMed about the email if possible! :)

They didn't offer the 64 bit in NYC. You had to ask about it and then they gave me a form to fill in to get it by mail.

Read the back of the sheet for the Kaspersky stuff. They give a url to get something free but don't specify what. I have not gone there yet. But, I suspect it is their anti vir suite.

I asked the lady who was passing out the dvd but she said that all she have and didn't mention about the ordering a 64bit dvd. Should have stick around longer but was in a rush to get to work.

I ended up getting in for the Kansas City IT Pro portion. It was full when I signed up a while back, so I was put on the wait list. I ended up getting a confirmation email though. One of my buddies at work signed up for the dev portion and got in too.

Good info on the goodies and software, but any feedback on the actual event? I think I will try to sit in on the Server 2008 R2 portions more than the Windows 7 stuff.

Did you guys who already when and got the free Windows 7 really get the ultimate edition? I thought it was the Pro version. I am going to the one on the 26th and they just called me to confirm and she told me to make sure and let them know if I want the 32bit or 64bit when I get there because they have been having some problems with that at other events. I cant wait to go and I hope I get the 64bit Ultimate version also.

This is how I got both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions.
They only have the 32 bit ultimate at these events.
The 64 bit version is not available yet.
If you want to get the 64 bit version...don't talk to the hot women in the yellow shirts.
They do not work for Microsoft. They are local hired help. Look for people with the blue Microsoft shirts on.
Depending on who you talk to...tell them that you would like the 64 bit version. They will prompt you to fill out a request form for you to receive the 64 bit version via mail.

Note.....they may ask you to trade in your 32 bit version for the 64 bit version. Just use the gift of gab and say that you don't want to wait 3 weeks for the product and you are so excited to star using it right away!

They don't really check if you are an IT person or developer. There are way too many people at these events so sign up for either one. The free Norton software is on a flyer in the grab bag. You can get out of the event early if you explain your situation to someone. I stayed through the whole thing and learned lots of little tricks for windows 7. All in all it was a fun event.

If there is a place to email for a request for the 64 bit, please let us know. I hope it directs you to a site where all you have to do is enter your CD Key for confirmation. Let's face it, it would be very annoying to have to send your copy of the ultimate edition in just to get the 64 bit one, what if it disappears in the mail somewhere.

I found a torrent with the 64-bit edition and downloaded that, installed it and used the key from my 32-bit software with no problem.

I did the same.

My disk cover had a 64bit version on one side and 32 bit on the other side.. I think MS just wasn't ready with the 64Bit version yet. So the disk was not included with the set. They key works.

i got the email sent to me! :)

Hi Anchit,

Thank you for attending the event (my former hometown) and for your interest in Windows 7. If you haven?t already activated the key for the 32-bit, we?d like to be able to fill your exchange request, so here is what you need to do:

· Please return your 32bit version in a sealed envelope to:
blah blah blah

· Please include your name, email address, and mailing address.

Once we receive your 32-bit disk, we will add you to our fulfillment list for an exchange to a 64-bit version ? to be sent out approximately 30 days after we receive your 32-bit disk.

Please note:
· We have limited quantities of the 64-bit media available as part of this Windows 7 promotional event. We can only fulfill exchange requests we receive within 2 weeks of the attended event.

· Any 64 bit media returned to Microsoft as non-deliverable will not be re-sent.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Again ? thank you for your interest in Windows 7!

I attended the Tyson's Corner, VA one yesterday, afternoon session.
- Although it started at 12:15 I saw people checking in as late as 3:30
- The last session ended at 4:45, they would not give out anything before 4:30
- No Norton, No Kapersky anywhere in sight

It was OK, I grabbed a seat by the reg desk between sessions and the blond-in-charge wouldn't stop making annoying comments about people trying to get multiple copies or people trying to get the software early. The 64-bit was not available, people had to fill out a form requesting it (90-day wait) and surrender their copy of 32-bit. They were getting pretty steamed at the guy standing by the door telling folks just to torrent the 64-bit and use the 32-bit reg code.

Norton is a code on a flyer in your "gift bag" (when you first arrive). Same with Kaspersky.

Doh - I chucked all that stuff. No wonder there was some guy who spent the better part of the day rooting through the trash :)

FYI - Just received my 64-bit disc from UPS. Be on the lookout for the yellow tag of death (sig required).

p.s. I was at the San Diego event.

I attended the Baltimore event yesterday. I was able to get two Windows 7 Ultimate disks.
