I received my copy of Win7 ultimate a few days ago in Denver. It's now installed on my home machine and will be my primary OS. I really like it - the only issue is Microsoft handed out the 32-bit version. I only have 2 gigs of RAM so that's not too much of a problem, but the 64-bit version would have been nicer. Overall, I call this a great deal, and I learned a few Win7 programming tricks.

Installation was a bit of a pain
I skipped Vista and went staight from windows XP. I wanted to do a clean install, so I removed all my program files from Win XP, and pared down my C;\ drive to pretty much just the bare winXP operating system. Then I booted from the Windows 7 DVD, with the idea of reformatting the hard drive during the install. However the installation kept stopping, asking for a driver file. However it wouldn't tell me which driver file it was looking for! After much time, I figured it needed a driver for my JMicron RAID chip on the motherboard, so I had to download the JMB36X driver. It was happy with this (I think) but then said I needed to give it antoher driver. I tried everything - sound card, LAN. The install just wouldn't proceed, stuck in a loop of asking for a driver. My computer is very simple - just a MB, video card, and 2 SATA hard drives - it should not have been difficult.
The install had not yet gotten to the point where I selected a partition, so I still had winXP. I loaded that back up, and then started the install from windows XP. This worked, although it did ask for the JMicron driver. Now everything is running perfectly, but it was a pain that the install failed when booting from the DVD.
When installing from within windows XP, it does wipe out your program files folder, and dos a "clean" install. This was fine with me.
