Guys, the offer has been extended through June 30th, 2006. So those of you who didn't get on this yet, can still do so.

How long does it take for them to ship the software? I completed my training requirements over a week ago. It says it has shipped, but I haven't received it yet.

Visual Studio Express Edition is now free from Microsoft, just go to VS website and download your own copy with VC++, VC#, VJ# and VB.

EDIT: It is express edition which is free, not standard, my bad.

Express is free, not Standard.

Still haven't gotten my free set, but I don't think it's been 3 weeks yet.

Mind posting a link? I don't see anything on the vstudio site, and I can't imagine Microsoft giving away a $500 package for free.

[EDIT] middlehead beat me to it. Here is the "Express" information: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/default.aspx

I always get scared with M$ promotions..... I have several USB keys I never got amonst a non-pile of other M$ crap.

This is the thing I wanted most, esp since I bailed on the developer conferences when they started hosing people by not giving out the Professional level as promised.

Anyhow, it told me mine shipped as soon as I watched the 3rd video. Very fast processing. But of course, I'm at a few weeks and waiting.

Good luck to all!

It said it shipped right away for all of us after clicking/watching 3 of those ASP.NET webcasts.

It does however say in fine print that we need to allow 6-8 weeks for shipping. It's been 6 weeks for me, but not 8....haven't received yet. I'm dearly looking forward to it though. I hope they don't hose us.

The website still has the offer running, so it can't be that bad.

Would say this offer will undoubtedly be fulfilled, as it was the last time.

Likely requires just a bit more patience before arriving.

Yeah, I got an email that it shipped in early March, but it never showed up. Oh well, no big loss if it doesn't come. I downloaded the Express editions anyway.

Yikes! Are you serious?

Seriously serious. Still haven't gotten it. As far as the MS USB thing promotion, I got the email saying they were out of stock on that. So, with that in mind, I likely won't be getting Visual Studio. Guess it's time to go ahead and install Express Ed.
