FREE utility to transfer data to new HD?

If you don't have the utility, a disk image can normally be downloaded from the manufacture of the new drive. It shouldn't matter what the old drive is.
 
you can boot with a linux disk and use rysnc. It is very easy to use:

the command line is something like:
rsync -av /mnt/winc/. /mnt/wind/.
 
what manufacturer is the drive that you want to move it to?

Most have their utility for free dl on the web
