This is an interesting development.

Leaked Best Buy memo offers Windows 7 details
http://news.cnet.com/8301-13860_3-10258259-56.html

"The memo also says that on June 26, Best Buy will start preselling upgrade versions of Windows 7 Home Premium for $49 and Windows 7 Professional for $99 via its Web site. It's not totally clear whether those are standard or promotional prices, although the memo says the pre-order program will run only for 16 days."

California Roll,

Its great that you are having such success with Windows 7 RC and that you are truly loving it as your main OS! Windows 7 has many great features and plenty of shortcuts to make what you want to do happen even faster. ^^ wow microsoft signed up for ATOT :)

xp -> vista = cool
xp -> win7 = cool!
vista -> win7 = meh

its just a skinned version of vista. if you use vista ultimate SP2 there is a fancy new taskbar but thats about it.

my first vista boxen was a measly q6600,8600gts,raid-1 with 3gb of ram. it didn't seem slow or awkward at all. i spent like $400 on the box and thats reasonable for a new o/s.

I hate to say it but I kind of agree. I have been very underwhelmed with Win 7 so far and to be honest my Vista install feels faster. Hopefully it's just because of being RC.

I remember the Vista RC. It was slow and clunky too. Didn't improve that much either.

As long as Win7 has better general legecy driver support upfront. The release should go a lot smoother.

What would be nice is Improved gaming compared to Vista.

We shall see.
