This is just for those that don't know. The island of Tokelau is giving away their .tk domain names. Just head over to http://www.tk for more info. I know almost everyone knows about this, but they emailed me and said to get the word out!

Bleh, their free service doesn't let you point the domain to your own DNS servers... Kinda kills the control aspect of a domain.

Yes, I signed up for it a while ago and pointed it to a geocities site. It seems to be down a lot though.

I suppose this could be a "hot" deal, but when companies like RegisterFly.com offer regular TLD's for $8-$10 a year, and offer you full control, why would anyone even bother with .tk and lack of DNS control?

I've been using it for my case modification site (www.pdxpc.tk) for a long time now and it suits my needs very well. Of course I only get an average of about 300 hits per month. I just use the 25MB of webspace that Comcast gives me to host and I have no use for DNS. I get offers all the time to switch to a paid domain. I enjoy the amount I pay now ($0).
