free SVCD encoder?

I'm using Nero 5 to encode my videos into VCD's, but my version won't support SVCD's with the higher resolution, etc. Is there a free program that'll convert my videos for me and possibly either create ISO's or burn them directly to a CD?

I managed to find a way to record my powerpoints as video, but now I'm having a hard time converting that video into a useable format.
