Excellent summary within the attention span of most adults

Immediately the concept of free speech absolutists, Musk, Twitter and what all that means in a global social interconnected framework comes to mind.
These companies are not gonna heal themselves, they cant, its not in the nature of profit.

I dont know how this is gonna work, but it seems to me that some of our rights is colliding with capitalism and advancement of technology.

Like the US has the 2nd right? At some point guns became so efficient that you began putting limits on that right… banning assault weapons. If someone invented a pistol today that could shoot miniature tactical nuclear ammo, you’d probably restrict that too.. miniature black holes that could suck up your entire neighborhood?

So as technology progresses we have to reevaluate our rights in this new context. Has free speech in the hands companies with ad algorithms that favor insanity to increase profits reached that milestone?

You can game the equation of free speech plus facebook over time is gonna collapse the right of the individual. Well I can anyway.
Dont have the answers, just see the problem.

Thoughts?

The human species had advanced faster than it can adequately deal with and collapse isn't in the future - it's already happening.

Everything else is a debate on whether we should have burned up future generations' natural resources slightly slower, or whether we should acknowledge future generations at all.

The debates are akin to debating whether we should lock the barn doors after the horses have already ran away and been devoured by forest fires we set ourselves.

Those are my thoughts, because it's the actual reality we face as a species. But, I also realize that if we don't pretend that everything is OK, people become upset and lash out. So.

You start by making anything promoted by the algorithms lose Section 230 protection, outside of some very small carve outs like content you subscribe to.

Second, you make privacy laws much stricter so it's much hard to target people and much harder to make money by selling outrage.

Musk scares me when he, the richest man in the world, speaks of his desire to seize control of a popular media source because he has a personal issue with it and has the means to do it.

I mean, it's one of the first things a person intent on seizing power over a nation does.

I'm not sure what his true intentions are, but maybe he should rein in his wealth induced megalomania a bit and stick with what he knows best. The nation really does not need more rich folks attempting to control what the nation sees and hears through social media for their own personal benefit.

The downside to capitalism.
The rich get too rich where they can buy out anything not as ownership but as control.

I still believe a day will come when food is the issue and someone like Musk can buy out all Walmart, Target, food chains, fast food chains, food suppliers, all of it and gain sole control of everything and anything food related. One individual controlling what you eat, where you eat, how you eat, and most of all the price you pay. Yep, just one guy controlling it all.

Capitalism may be a good idea in theory but when it gets out of control then we have big problems. With Musk, we have a rich guy wanting to control free speech through wealth and ownership. to actually own thus control what can and can not be said.

America is hurting. Wages are not keeping up with inflation. Walmart is being investigated for price gouging. American greed towards one another runs rampant. The average social security monthly income check is only $1200. All this as TV runs ads for automobiles starting at $89.000. Who is buying these cars? Who can afford to?
Capitalism simply means that one man can eventually control it all and not just goods and services but freedom of speech and eventually the government itself. The members of congress are already in the pocket of greed.
