I am a 16 year old teenager. The past few months I've acted really bad. My parents ordered the paddle. One night I came in at 1 am, and my parents were sitting there with the paddle. They gave me 10 strokes, and said I would receive the same each night for 2 weeks. It was the worst punishment I've ever gotten. I've acted alot better now cause I'm afraid of your paddle. Thanks.

I hope someone reports her parents.

10 strokes one night is punishment (and I DO think the world would be a better place if more people put the whuppin on their kids like this every now and then). But doing this every day for 2 weeks is a pattern of abuse.

Speaking of the south, I was in a fight in grade school in the south and got 3 licks from a leather paddle. By a woman. I thought it was funny, a woman? Until the searing pain quickly took the smug smile away from me - as well as any idea of getting into another fight. Not the best solution, but for quickness, sure beat the hell out of an Oprah-ized apporach.

These aren't just for punishing your children... Ever seen "Dazed and Confused" Awesome flick and they made use of these paddles in High School. All custom made in Wood Shop.

and my child abuse comment refers to the 10 times a day for 2 weeks... thats not right. I've been hit with these paddles... they do some serious damage 😱
 
I don't think there's anything wrong with punishing your children if they misbehave- in fact, if kids these days had a little bit more to fear from their parents and authority in general besides a "time out" I think I would probably say the world would be a nicer and safer place. But the punishment has to fit the crime. Use some common sense. Sheesh.

Just a reminder, but forcing your kids to do yardwork on the weekends isn't cruel and unusual punishment and dare I venture far more effective than spanking. Whereas spanking hurts for a bit, serious yardwork can make you sore for days. And it builds character 😉
 
spanking isn't bad.. but it can't be the only punishment.. the parent still needs to convince the child why it's wrong or right.

otherwise.. the child will still do it behind the parent's back..

If my mom was going to spank me for something I believed was right, I'd do it anyways.

But in all seriousness I never want to hit my child, because I was beaten as a child and it has created hatred and a sense of no love towards my father from which we both have never recovered.
