when i try to burn a dvd with a directory called "Video_ts" it says the DVD is unburnable, but if i have the same information in another directory it burns fine, but then my stand-alone dvd player cant read it...

i am trying to burn with Veritas the software that came with my Sony Dru500

is there any free software out there that works?

I thoght that recordnow max came with that burner, and if that is the case you need to make a empty folder named AUDIO_TS and import it with VIDEO_TS, but to tell you the truth I have never done it so dont hold me to it! But I am about 95% sure it will work!

Not true. There's a linux tool to create IFO and VOB files from MPEG data. There's no menus yet, but it's very young. After fighting with shoddy, yet expensive, Windows programs that didn't work well I was quite happy to find that I could create a full DVD movie from my Linux box. And the funny thing is the software's so much younger, yet it's more reliable and actually tells me why it fails on the off chance that it does, something the Windows software didn't like to do.

Yea I did not notice that you had your VIDEO_TS folder in lower case, it has to be capitallized. Also have you ever even got a movie to work in that standalone DVD player? maybe that the problem all together.

After reading many sites, a lot of people say that Nero doesn't burn DVDs that are completely complaint. So they work in some dvd players and don't in others. I use recordmax and I don't have any problem with it. I just use the wizard to create the disk and it takes care of the rest.

hmmm dont know what its problem is then...its really weird, i can burn anything, but when i try with the audio and video folders (capitalized or not or partially capitalized) it wont burn saying the DVD is bad...but then i try burning another file on it and it works
