This is a silly idea . . . how secure is their database?

And this belongs in OT, Not Hot Deals.

If you are truly paranoid simply check your credit card balance online every day to check for unauthorized charges and change your password regularly.

I guess the thieves only need to hit up one place now. WTF were they thinking?!

Ahhh.

We'll soon see an article from these folks on how careless people are with their credit cards, citing those that willingly offered theirs up on this page.

Wait for it; it'll happen.

I don't know if it's such a bad idea... i mean.. we buy stuff online all the time.. and most people know that even larage "secure" sites get hacked.

I think I should just post my CC # on this fourm to make it eaiser on everyone.

honestly, how hard can it be to look at your statement?! Heck, or just log into your online account, and look at it every few days...I know I look whenever I make a purchase and I make purchases quite often =)

I think I'd notice if suddenly I have 3 porn sites billed to me, a jetski ordered to russia, and a bill from "online casino enterprises" lol

I had a telemarketer call me one time trying to sell me a cruise package, but I declined. They then asked for my credit card number to verify that it was me on the phone.... I guess they expect a sucker to be born every minute..

I gave them my cc # because I'm not even sure who I am

I don't understand... Just check your statement every month. You don't recognize a charge, call the CC company and ask for more information about the specified transaction(s). If you remember, then you're ok. If you don't... cancel the card - now how hard is that?

etc. BS
etc. BS

$29.95 first month...$9.95 monthly thereafter!
damn ...$30 a person (plus their cc#) just to give them the old cc proggies and carding docs that having been floating round the net for years...another million $$$ idea i didn't think of :disgust:

Sounds like the site is best used by the bad guys to see if the CC #'s they steal are already known to be compromised. :)

Ok,
I tried it..... You enter a card number, and it says "Not in Database". Not such a big deal. It doesn't ask for your name, or expiration date, or C V V 2 value (the 3 or 4 digit number on the back of your card). If you enter an invalid account number (they do know how to do a mod10 validation on it), they tell you so. I tried a variety of Visa, and MasterCard numbers.
Just to add to what was said above, bin-ranges depend upon card type, and available length of card account number, so the first 8 digits of a 19 digit account number may be used to determine the issuer of the card. But most often it seems to be the first 6.

One more thing, the numbers I entered, weren't mine.... I just made up a couple that would validate. You never know, I could be wrong.!!!!

I don't think the guys running this site are gonna use your CC#'s. I just saw on that CNN Headline News, some guy was doing a report on it, and the site is working with the FBI to get people using stolen numbers. Makes you feel a little safer. But that doesn't mean someone can crack the site and steal all the entered #'s that are legitimate :)
