free scanning software?

doesnt have to be fancy, just something for basic photo scanning. the cd that the scanner came with has an old copy of photoimpression or something, which is kind of crappy to say the least. is there anything else out there that i could possibly use?

 
The freeware of Omni Page comes with many scanners.
You can download it too.
For being freeware it works pretty darn good. Can do OCR straight to text if needed. Can also work with PDF's you already have.

even if it doesn't support your scanning needs, it should be part of your simple image viewing/editing arsenal. it's that fantastic 🙂
 
can you direct me to a place to download omni[page for free??? I didnt know this was available and I wanted to try some OCR stuff for my notes.
