I was just looking over at www.amazon.com and saw that they are offering the Samsung S105 mobile cell phone for $300 - $50 samsung rebate - $250 amazon.com rebate, making this phone free with t-mobile one year activation. That is a savings of $300. Sounds like a good deal to me for an awesome cell phone.

only problem i can see is that T-mobile service sucks (only from what I hear)?

Hi,

I did not find T-Mobile's "FamilyTime" (nation wide 69.99/month) service plan on Amazon web site. Does that mean I cannot get 2 phones for free? FamilyTime account comes with 2 different phone numbers although their bill is only one and air time minutes are shared.

I wonder whether I can order 2 phones (each with its own plan for check out), and activate both phones with T-Mobile with FamilyTime plan. That is, is it still qualified for 2 Amazon rebates if not going with original 2 individual plans I ordered with Amazon?

I sent Amazon mail about this but got no response...

There's a T-Mobile store in my local mall that has the charger/case for $20 each.

And what's wrong with the keypad? I haven't had any trouble with it.

Amazon does not do "group" time deals. I sent the same question off to them and got a response. So you are out of luck for the T-mobile Family Talk plan.

I ended up getting the 29.99 t-mobile plan and the s105 for $50. The $250 Amazon rebate is good regardless of the plan price. THe t-mobile $50 rebate states you need to order a plan $34.99 or higher.

Overall very good service where I am and the phone is very nice. I did have to put an aftermarket antenna on it but that's only cause my house is in a bad cell area. Definitely worth the $50 I paid and it comes with an extra battery too, so you don't really need the car charger unless you are a big-time user.

T-Mobile, like Cingular and AT&T, has "roaming" agreements with competitors. So, yes, while T-mobile does occasionally use Cingular's network, that's only in places where T-Mobile doesn't have its own coverage.

Blanket statements about coverage aren't that helpful, since every cell provider offers a different level of service in different cities. (Add to that the confusion that sometimes, you're not even using their network -- you're using a competitor's.)

Only in California, everywhere else T-Mobile has their own networks.

Its the oppisite, in NYC, Cingular uses T-Mobile's network

This is a great deal if you can get it for Free or even $50 if you select a cheaper plan. I got in on this last month and have no regrets. This is a VERY cool phone, without a doubt. I get great reception where I'm at. (Indiana)

Thanks for answering my questions.

yOyOYoo,
hope you don't mind I used your thread for related deal discussion.

As Karzi indicated, the phone price now has been increased. It is now 100 dollars after rebate. Is it still worthy? Is the motorola v60g (free AR) as equally good?

Thanks.

Me and my mom took advantage of this deal. I wanted the family share plan so I just printed out the amazon.com coupon and the guys at t-mobile store price matched it no problem. They were very nice!

I was going to get a second one until I saw they jacked the price. Here's my theory:

$399 is $100 more than anyone else is selling it for, even T-mobile. My guess is that they couldn't pull the rebate early, and decided they would still sell plenty of these for $100. I am pretty sure that after the $250 rebate expires, they will drop it back down to $299, and probably add a $150 or $200 rebate to keep it at $100. (the $50 T-mobile rebate ends today IIRC, so Amazon may adjust accordingly). If they do not release a new rebate or do not drop the initial price, I will buy the phone somewhere else.

For $100 I do think it is worth it. I love the phone so far. The color screen and polyphonic rings, plus the organizer make it way better than the v60 IMHO.

I did this deal also, and am quite pleased with my phone. I get a great signal in my house, whereas previously I couldn't get jack with Sprint. Apparently I live in a hole in Sprint's coverage. Bah. As mentioned before, the $50 rebate is only with plans $34.99 and above. The $250 rebate is fine for me--paying $50 for this phone is still an incredible price. I'm starting with the $20 plan and will see whether I can live with that for now. If not, I can always move up to the $30 plan.

I've had this phone for a month now and get excellent coverage in the Tacoma area. I also signed up for their T Zones service...its not as fast as my dsl at home, but still usable.

I eventually went with T68i and v60g. I need two phones for T-Moblie family plan and S105 would cost me $200 since I am late. I thought $25 for T68i is acceptable.

I like the T68i, comes with color screen (although 256 color only but good enough for menu icons), voice dial/control, bluetooth (now if the gear were cheaper!), and a long battery time. The RF was a concern before I got it but it seems just a bit weaker than v60g.

EDiT,
Thanks for your input.

Appreciated all AnandTecher's help.

Thing about those suckaz with open screens (non flip-phones) is that you need to have a case on that bad boy or the screen'll get scratched.
