"Free" RPGs?

I'm looking for a good RPG which doesn't require paying a monthly fee to play it online. I have diablo but it sucks. I'm looking for MMORPGish stuff, and if not that, a game with a good, LONG single player story.

Fallout 1 + 2 both for $10 is a lot of RPG fun for very little cash.

I doubt you'll find something like EverQuest for $0/month now that all the goofy internet freebie companies have gone bankrupt.

NeverWinter Nights could be what you want except for the tiny detail of it not existing yet 🙂

I think Summoner is free for online play but i'm not 100% sure..it's a really fun game, or atleast the demo was.

Baldurs Gate 2 doesnt require a monthly fee, and its a great game, albeit old, but good.

Summoner was a really boring game that I finished only because I have no life. The graphics were great though, especially if you have them pumped up and with FSAA. There's a multiplayer for it, but it's lame, so I don't know why anyone would do it, even if free.

Vampire is ok, if you don't expect too much from it. It could be cool if you know the right people.

Baldur's Gate 2 is good, but that's a big jump up from diablo.

Check out www.theunderdogs.org for some old but goody single players though.
