WINTER WEEKEND FREE-FOR-ALL!
RIDE FREE FROM RAMSEY ROUTE 17 RAIL STATION

Now, every Saturday and Sunday through January 16, 2005, get a FREE round-trip train ride for two adults and two children to New York Penn Station or Hoboken Terminal, including FREE parking.

Here is how it works: Sign up for your Weekend Pass and print it out. Then go to the Ramsey Route 17 Rail Station located at Spring Street and Route 17. To enter the parking facility, push the button at the entry gate and obtain a ticket. After parking, TAKE THE TICKET WITH YOU, and proceed to the pay station located on levels 1 or 3. Although no payment is necessary, the ticket must be validated to exit the garage. Once on board the train, just show your Weekend Pass to the Conductor.

NOTE:
If you are traveling to New York Penn Station you will transfer from your Main/Bergen train to a New York train at Secaucus Junction. Show your Weekend Pass to the attendant at the fare gates. If you are traveling to Hoboken, just stay on the train through to Hoboken Terminal.

The actual printed coupon says you need to begin your trip at the Rt. 17 rail station. In other words, your free round-trip can't be from NYP/HOB to Rt. 17 and back. So if you start out from NYP/HOB, half of your trip will be free. Click HERE to sign up for your coupon for the free ride.

Yeah Bergen County.

Nothing in Bergen's in the Sticks. If you live in Bergen and are more than 10 minutes from a major highway, there's something wrong.

This is hard to believe, but having moved to Boston from NJ, THE DRIVERS HERE ARE MORE CURTEOUS, BUT UNBELIEVABLY LESS SKILLED!

If you're trying to make a left turn here, it is considered normal to pull across the nearest lanes of on-coming traffic and STOP IN THE STREET. This means that on-coming traffic is blocked until either a) an opening in the opposite direction appears (FAT CHANCE), or b) someone takes pity on you and let's you in. Here's the nice part: someone always does!

The other thing nice in Boston is that people use their turn indicators and, get this, let you into congested traffic lanes if you simply indicate you would like to do so! In NJ turn signals were definitely perceived as a sign of weaknesss and meant that traffic should close ranks to deny the offender any chance of merging.

All in all, driving is not a matter of life and death...it is far more important than that.
